Roccat Kone Pure Optical edition Mouse review

< Prev Next >

hey folks…hows it going?

Today we have one more mouse for review..this time its the Roccat kone Pure optical edition.

Yep…you guessed it right…its the kone pure with an Optical sesnor(Pro Optic R3 to be exact.)

So without further ado lets see what we have..i promise i will keep it short.

Now…lets see what Roccat thinks is special about the mouse.

Features

So far seems good..from a marketing point of view.

Technical Specifications

On to the photo shoot and then we will dive into the usage experience and conclusion and our new rating system.

Well…time for the mandatory photo-shoot…
First up is the box itself.
Nothing much to write about as usual..its the standard Roccat Box with lots of information all over.

Opening the flaps up we see the mouse inside a soft plastic casing in one side and lots of information on the other covering flap.

Now coming to the mouse..

The mouse in itself is not ambidextrous,it’s for the right-handed people…but unlike other mice the kone pure can be adjusted into various kind of  hands. So that’s thumbs up from me.

The overall shape and the surface treatment Roccat gives to almost all of its mice are praiseworthy. While one of its competitors mice become a sweat magnet after prolonged continuous usage the roccat one never leaves your palm sweaty or the grip unmanageable.

the logo even if it’s not on looks pretty classy for my taste.

And at last..the sensor that runs it all..the Pro Optic R3 sensor.
Also if you haven’t noticed yet we can see the teflon mouse feets also.

So that takes care of the showcase..

As always i ran the mouse through my normal usage; a bit of Photoshop and a few games including RTS and FPS.On FPS side i use every ones favorite Battlefield 3 and my all time favorite RTS Command and Conquer 3.

Now the experience was smooth and pleasurable but the mouse felt a tad heavy when playing Battlefield 3. But overall it was pure bliss even after prolonged use.

Now the usage experience wont be complete without a proper firmware supporting the mouse. Many companies fail at that.

Now Roccat had that covered. The software is so complete that its scary .

The Software in itself includes

Now i wont go on and on about this,i will just let the pictures do the talking.

Now with that aside lets jump to conclusions..shall we?

Now before i jump into Conclusion i would like to announce that from this review onwards the OCF review team would adopt a 10 point reward system, against the earlier 5 point.

Now with that aside lets turn our attention to the Kona Optical.

The mouse is a successor to Roccat Savu whihc was pretty accurate in what it was supposed to do and garnered some good reviews worldwide.
Kone optical takes that success and the savu, changes the shape a bit around the thumb area;and packages it in an almost new form and in the end does a pretty good job.
It works good..packs an optical sensor and works flawlessly on all surface. And add to that it comes with every thing a high-end mouse should have.

So in my Books Roccat did a pretty decent job with it and as such i will give it a 7/10 form my side. A must buy for anyone who is  looking for an optical mouse.

With this i take my leave.
Until next time.
