Terminator Salvation Game Review

Gameplay

The game is completely linear and offers no choice in taking decisions. Also the variation of ENEMY is very poor, you get to fight with only 3 types of enemies :

  1. Humanoids [Including Rubber Skin]
  2. Wasps [That flying bees]
  3. Spiders [Those crawlers]

These are the only cons. Now as for pros, there are many. You will find plenty of ammunition and weapons lying here and there. Even if you are out of ammo, you can always go to your ally and he will replenish with some clips of ammo and you can repeat this many times. The cover system is very good and the enemy tends to damage you even if you slightly peek out making the game rather hard. The blind fire is also way too good as bullets mostly hit the target.

Shotgun is way too powerful in this game. It can kill the Wasp flying in air even though if it is several meters away. The enemy AI is also pretty good so are your team-mates. Like, if you flank the enemy, it will start attacking you and your team-mates do pretty good amount of damage from the back. Each of the ENEMY types has got a special place where you have to shoot in order to destroy them immediately.

Performance

The game runs pretty good and doesn’t stutter. Although I experienced horrible lag in the ps3 version over a particular are where 3 humanoid robots come and start banging. Rest the game runs pretty smooth and firefights don’t drop the frame rate too.

Graphics and Sound

Graphics :
Graphics are not very great like Uncharted or Battlefield 3, but are pretty. You can say the graphics are like Homefront pretty much. There is complete absence of the Rippling effect of water. Although the explosions and Enemies look very good whereas your own team mates suck at expressions . The environments are well lit and are soothing to the eyes.

Sound :
The sound is pretty good too in my opinion. Dialogues are pretty clear. But the sound of Explosions and grenades or pipe bombs is not that much realistic. The sound of gun fire is pretty good. There is absence of SOUND in enemy AI like their footsteps cannot be heard etc.

Concluding Remarks

Game could have been success if they had kept the price point low. Also working more on the game play elements and increasing the length of campaign would have sufficed. Get it if you are getting it for cheap somewhere.
